Prepping For Her Upcoming Appearance!

One of my best friends from northern Lancaster County came to stay for a few days and shared some interesting observations with me.
Back in the day, one of her best friends knew Angie Funk. Hence, once the name of the nasty mistress was revealed, it piqued the interest of many.
And as a result, most of Angie's behaviors and activities are now noticed with much scrutiny.
Angie will never again blend back into the woodwork, unless she moves out of the area, and odds are that she never will. Her claim to fame is here. She has fashioned herself as a local celebrity of sorts and would never revert back to simply being a common wife and mother in a small town.
Rumors abound when it comes to Angie. She is well aware that she is noticed and she is loving it!
She truly does believe that few men can resist her.
She is "in training" for the upcoming trial.
When most women would be cringing at the thought of revealing their innermost plans to destroy lives and wreck families, Angie sees her time on the stand as a star op.
She's working out. She's strutting all over town pushing her new baby in a stroller.
And at least five people that have seen her tell me she's holding her head quite high.
She has never, ever felt the need to show remorse. She has never felt the need to shield her children from the glare of shame that follows her like a thick, gray-green cloud.
It is all about Angie. It always has been. And it continues to this day.
Angie has had a penchant for married men in the past, long before she started sleeping with Mike Roseboro.
There is no sacred ground with her. Not her vows or those taken by another couple.
There is a rumor that she's got a Plan B possibly in the wings.
She has stated out loud, in earshot of several, that she is sure she doesn't want to remain married to Randy. Who is on deck depends on the trial.
If Mike is acquitted and still wants her, she wants to be the Funeral Director's wife with all the money and former prestige that role held.
If not, she's got at least one other woman's husband in her cross-hairs.
So far, I've not heard from one person, male or female who can explain the draw to Angie other than that "she's easy". Most people that have known her illicit lovers are sure they just wanted a roll in the hay and had no desire to "take her home to meet Mama". Angie's "not that kinda girl."
She's a good time girl. Nothing more.
Some close to Mike still stand by their theory that she was nothing more than that to Mike. It was just his macabre luck to finally run into one "ho" that had plans for his money and his earning power.
Still, according to those who know him directly, he has fallen hard in the past.
What we all hear at the trial isn't going to clear up many quetions. It will simply add to the facts that are known about all the people involved and as to things that have happened in their pasts.
How Mike feels today may be the same as he felt the night Jan died. It may be completely different.
What he presents as his defense will serve one purpose and one purpose only.
To keep him from serving a life sentence and possibly avoiding a death sentence.
How he felt last summer and how he truly feels now is known only to him.
But instability is in his past. Fact. Obsession is in his past. Fact.
And then came Angie.
Was he feeding her a line of crap to keep her skyclad and sneaking around with him?
Or did he want her so badly that he beat the life out of Jan?
The trial will add to information log but it will in no way tell anyone the truth about that night, about Mike and his intentions or Angie's role in the tragedy.
Each person, no matter the verdict, will create a scenario in their mind that settles their questions as well as can be expected. And with those "created truths" people will move on, after the gavel drops for the last time.
For some, a new source of entertainment will have to be found. Those people, who are simply "popcorn munchin spectators" are reprehensible.
And most others will try to remember life as it was before the death of Jan Roseboro.
But her children and her family will never move on. They will never get over it, simply fight every day to get through it.
I am still curious though why so many locals, who are hell bent on chatting and posting about it, who every now and then throw a nicebone to Jan or her kids, have YET to get off their asses and do anything worthwhile in her name or in honor of her family and children.
That would require work. And for them to get out from in front of the computer.
They talk...and it's just noise.
Where is the "foundation"? Where is the fundraiser or memorial endowment?
Yea, that's what I thought. It's entertainment.
There are many people still in so much pain over the events of last summer. They are the real heroes here, taking one day at a time and caring for Jan's precious children.
Prayers are nice and necessary but they are taking action and putting their faith and love to work to care for Jan's children.
They are angels.
I am afraid also that this trial is going to reveal less than the best of the area.
I've come to learn that while there are people somewhat interested in the case, this is not earth-shattering to most of the people of the county. They aren't being dismissive or disrespectful, it just doesn't drive them to the keyboard for hours every day. They live their lives, interacting with the people they love, going to work and spending meaningful hours in their days.
Some hate Angie for things she has allegedly done to them in the past.
Pull up your big girl pants and get over it, already.
Raise your kids, put that energy and effort into them, not stoking the fires of past crimes against you by Angie.
Some have found new fame as a quasi leader of the pack and have latched onto it with abandon.
I am hoping against hope that entrance to the courtroom is restricted or hard to come by.
I want to see the Legion of Doom force their way into the Lancaster County Courthouse.
Iwonder if the officials know how determined some are to get in and claim their seats?

Are people still thrown in the pokey for contempt of court? LOLOL
The Legion of Doom may offer us all some comedic relief till this is all said and done.
Some aren't exactly quick on the uptake and are being dragged along simply because a body, any body looks like a fan.
This is going to be a groundswell of data for sociologic studies. I pray that some savvy professor watches and documents.
Just as Richard Gehman got it and wrote of the crowd that assembled every day of the Ed Gibbs trial, the crowd that waits to be admitted for a seat at the Roseboro trial will tell its own tale.
I am ambivalent about what I believe it will say about the fine people of the county.
Richard Gehman wasn't always kind but not many read between the lines. He poked fun and was insulting to the people of Lancaster County. But he told the truth. He was spot on.
We shall see....
